Its skin is red tending to purple. Its flesh is white striped with purple.
Origin & Culture
The exact origin of onions is unknown, although ancient texts dating back to 3000 BC reveal that they were first developed in Asia. The onion has been known since antiquity. It probably comes from a wild species from Central Asia. The onion was appreciated by the Egyptians, Greeks, Gauls and Romans.

No particular odor except that of the onion.

Can be eaten raw or cooked. In compote, in pie, fried etc…

Home preservation
Onions should be stored for a long time in a dry place away from light, otherwise in the refrigerator, not more than one week.
Flavor
It is slightly sweeter than the yellow onion. Very crunchy, strong in taste and spicy when eaten raw.
