Properties


Rich in vitamins C and potassium, this radish is low in calories and has diuretic properties. The juice extracted from black radish is used in phytotherapy.

Caliber


Variable length. Small calibers ≈ 20cm; medium calibers ≈ 25 cm or large calibers ≈ 30 cm. (250 to 500g)

Scientific and botanical name


Raphanus stivus var. niger (Family Brassicaceae) Other names: Spanish radish, winter radish, Parisian raidfort.

Coloring


The epidermis is black, while the flesh is white.

Origin & Culture


Native of China and Egypt, the black radish was used during antiquity, in Greece, to overcome coughs and hemorrhages.

Smell


Preparation advice


This radish is eaten raw, peeled, cut into strips or grated. As an aperitif, it will be a sensation.

Can be kept in the refrigerator for a few days.

Flavor


The flavor remains that of the classic radish but a little stronger.
